about
chef nico

Chef Nicola started his culinary experience when he was only 2 years old helping his mother cook for family and friend in her small kitchen in Italy. He grew up in Bari, a city located in Puglia right on the heel of the boot. After receiving a degree from the Italian Culinary Institute of Bari in Puglia, Italy, Nicola spent seven years working and traveling in many regions of Italy and Europe including France, England and Germany.

In 1999 he moved to the United States hired by Alfredo The Original of Rome in EPCOT Center Disney World Orlando. He was also chef at Tiramisu and Aura Restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida. Chef Nicola then was proposed to move to California and after opening 3 prestigious restaurants in Los Angeles, he decided to settle down in San Luis Obispo in 2001. With a passion for cooking taught by his mother and vast experience from all over the world, Chef Nico Allegretta created Mama’s Meatball in 2006, a restaurant and catering service specializing in Italian Gastronomy in an innovative mix of traditional and contemporary cuisines.

about
his mission

Chef Nico's ultimate mission in life is to help the poor around the world have access to fresh water and food. That's why he has pledged to put aside a portion of this profit from franchise sales to the following organizations:

Charity: Water
Chef Nico is a staunch supporter of Charity: Water Organization. Did you know that 1 in 10 people on the planet or roughly 700 million people live without access to clean water. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family. The bad news is that most of the time, this water carries diseases that can make everyone sick. Charity: Water is on a mission to change that.

World Central Kitchen
Chef Nico is also a big supporter of World Central Kitchen and a good friend of José Andrés, who along with his wife Patricia, founded World Central Kitchen in 2010. The goal was to be first to the frontlines, providing fresh meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and climate crises. Food is essential to life every single day, all over the world—and it is more important than ever in a crisis. Not only is a thoughtful, freshly prepared meal one less thing someone has to worry about in the wake of a disaster, it is a reminder that you are not alone, someone is thinking about you, and someone cares. Food has the power to be the nourishment and hope we need to pick ourselves back up in the darkest times.
